Delight in You

Retraining Our Brains To Celebrate The Positive…

We run around from dawn to dusk.

We set goals. We take action to attain them. We visualize. We plan. We dream. We frame everything in questions like “Where will I go next?” “What will I become?” “What do I want to achieve?” “What should I do (or not do) to get there?”

Planning and dreaming for the future is important.

But when you think about it, our aspirations for the future are unfortunately born out of a dissatisfaction of what we don’t have today.

We obsess about how we need to lose 10 pounds, make more money, find more friends, get more social media followers…

We push for more and more.

We get mad at ourselves that we don’t ‘measure up’.

Maybe it’s time to rethink this approach.

Focus on what you do have rather than what you don’t.

Trade in disappointment for delight in yourself.

Embrace everything that makes you ‘you’.

Acknowledge the funny, curious, quirky, artistic, smart, sassy YOU!

Celebrate all that you have and everything you have achieved.

There’s a very important reason to do this.

Simply put, what you focus on will gain power in your life.

This is how it works.

Your thoughts trigger the relevant neurons in your brain to start firing. Every time you repeat that thought (whether positive or negative), you strengthen those neural connections.

Those neural pathways shape your brain.

If you are focusing on negativity and lack, your neural pathways will ‘grow’ with that bias, cementing self-doubts and dissatisfaction with your situation in life.

If you focus on the positive however, you retrain your brain to greet the world in a more compassionate, empowered and happier way of being.

The brain builds on what it rests on.

Negative thoughts which concentrate on lack begets more of the same.

Positive thoughts which celebrate you will bring more of the same as well.

What you pay attention to will shape your brain which, in turn, will shape your experiences, your relationships and your life.

Be intentional about your focus.

Delight in you!
